Science Vocabulary Test Thursday December, 3rd.
Tommorow you need to turn in the results for the salt water activty. During the block we will contnue working in the ball activity were you are supposed to gather data, be able to identify the variables record in a graph and constant.
Final report for this acivty is to be handed in by Friday, December 4th.
This week we will be reading about some Investigations to reinforce our key terms.
Students have been paired to conduct an experiment in the class.
They need to set it up Friday, but it needs to be previously approved by me. They need to keep in mind that they are to record their observations during one week begining Monday, Decmeber 7th and finishing, December 15th. Final report should be handed in by December 18th. In case you are traveling for Christmas break please make sure to hand in your report before you leave.

Read the following Response and answer the questions
Mary had observed that bean plants seemingly grew taller when Ferilizer A was applied. She decided to conduct an experiment with bean plants to determine which type of fertilizer would produce the tallest bean plants in a 90 day period. She selected three containers of the same exact size and placed the same amount of potting soil in each container. She placed 100 bean seeds in each container. She placed all three containers on the covered back porch. She added FERTILIZER A to one container and FERTILIZER B to another container. SHE DID NOT FERLIZE THE PLANTS in the third container. She watered the three containers of plants every other day for 90 days. She watered with the same amount of water and distributed the water evenly in each of the three containers. At the end of 90 days, the container of plants receiving FERTILIZER A produced plants with an average plant height of 117 inches. FERTILIZER B plants averaged 12 inches, and the container receiving no fertilizer averaged 10 inches in height.
Name the independent variable.
Name the levels of the independent variable.
Name the dependent variable.
Name the control.
List the constants.
Formulate a hypothesis.
State the numer of repeated trials or repetitions.
State the outcome of the experiment.
Was the hypothesis correct?
Was this experiment controlled? Explain the rationale for your response.

Wek as of November 23 to November 25
This week we will be studying the Attributes of an Experiment
Key Words: variables, independent variables, dependent variable, Research hypothesis, Constantes, Control, Repetition or Repeated Trials
We will be discussing the steps for Conducting a Scientific Investigation.
To reinforce and apply what we cover we will be condcuting a class activity(graded). Students need to bring smallrubber balls that bounce and/or tennis balls for Wednesday.
Next Thursday we will have test of key termns and class notes. (NB)

Week as of November 2 to Novermber 6
Congratulations! I was really impressed with the results of the class activity related with "Adopt an element". Your oral presentantions were fantastic.
As you know the fist part of our Tuesday block will be use for your writing Assessment.
During the second part we will begin in working in our Science Activity "Graphing Elements". If we don´t finish we will complete it on Wednesday.
Please be aware that the Written Report Activity will be for next Tuesday, Nov 10th.
A computer activity will be posted Tuesday, its really fun, I´m sure you will enjoy it, you will need to turn in the hard copy Wednesday, November 11th. (Instead of Problem of the week).
We will use Read Aloud and Interactive Writing to cover "Elements and Compounds" pages E.46/E-49 and shared reading for two interesting articles
